Capital Blue Cross shares their motivation in supporting CPC’s mission and work
When you’ve been part of a community for nearly a century, you see its challenges — and its potential — with uncommon clarity. For Capital Blue Cross, founded in central Pennsylvania almost 90 years ago, supporting neighbors is a responsibility rooted in place, people, and purpose.
“Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our members and the communities in which they live,” says Michael Crnovic, Director Retail Services at Capital Blue Cross. “We’re proud to do our part to help make York County a great place to live, work, and raise families.”
That commitment is what first led Capital Blue Cross to Community Progress Council. York County, like many communities across the commonwealth, faces persistent barriers to health and self-sufficiency — challenges Capital sees firsthand through its work with employers, families, and individuals.
“Issues like food insecurity and lack of access to preventive healthcare can be barriers to self-sufficiency, but they are barriers we can overcome together,” Crnovic says.
For Capital Blue Cross, partnership is essential to that “together.” Their support for Community Progress Council reflects a shared belief that families thrive when they have access to comprehensive, integrated services — the kind that address not just one need, but the full picture of a person’s life.
“Community Progress Council’s mission aligns strongly with Capital’s,” Crnovic says. “Both organizations understand the importance of taking a holistic approach to building strong and healthy families and communities.”
That alignment extends beyond financial support. Capital Blue Cross employees are deeply engaged in hands-on service across the region.
“In 2025 alone, more than 300 Capital employees logged 10,473 volunteer hours serving those in need,” Crnovic says.

Capital’s presence in York County is significant: They provide healthcare coverage for many local employers and families, and their Capital Blue Cross Connect Health and Wellness Center in York offers consultations and services to anyone in the community — regardless of whether they are a Capital Blue Cross member.
